Thomas Sweeney II, MD, PhD

Dr. Sweeney was born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts with a B.S. in Wildlife Biology in 1980. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia in 1989, along with a Ph.D. in Anatomy. He subsequently completed a research fellowship at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Virginia in 1996. This was followed by a one year fellowship at The Spine Center at the University of Virginia in the operative and non-operative treatment of Spinal Disorders.
He has been published extensively, including new methods on bone healing, and is recognized as a national speaker on disorders and surgical procedures of the spine.
